Home, Home On The Range

As you know, we live in a world where using shit ingredients like canola oil (in almost EVERY good on the shelves) , aspartame (in gum), food dyes, sodium nitrates (in normal bacon, sausages, etc.), and man-made ingredients is socially accepted. Why? A part of society doesn’t 1. read the ingredients, 2. doesn’t care about the ingredients, or (and the worst) 3. can’t afford to eat better. Sure, all of these foods in grocery stores AND in the majority of restaurants have super tasty food, but are they beneficial for our current and future health? EFF NO. Okay, I’m done ranting about the foods in our country (for now) and am veering back to the true purpose….

Although Chicago has started to jump on the clean-sustainable-ingredient-restaurant wagon, the gears are still slowly turning. The main struggle I (and everyone else with food issues) have is finding places to eat out where you can trust the quality. Unfortunately, I can count the places where I can “safely” eat in Chicago on one hand — which is extremely sad. However, after much research, I learned that I can now add Range Chicago in Lincoln Park to my inventory.

Rebooting for 2016

I realize that I’ve produced a few posts related to anti-juice cleanses. However, with my recent tummy problems and constant bloating – I began to research different types of cleanses to partake in. Although I really do not like drinking juice for three days and starve as I watch my hubs-to-be eat real food, my normal detox/food aids were not helping. My number one requirement when searching was finding a product that doesn’t leave me feel STARVING/miserable/grumpy.  As I was about to give up, I remembered this small store in Lincoln Park I used to live by – City Press Juice.

Just live your LYFE

Sure we’ve seen these restaurants pop up around town, but what exactly is LYFE Kitchen? Another health food concept? Another place that offers an overpriced salad in Chicago? Only dining at LYFE a few times, I can tell you with confidence that this is the most complex, yet simple restaurant I’ve ever visited. It may seem overwhelming at first, seeing that there are over three menus to glance at before ordering, but within the menus is a COMPLETE breakdown of each menu item. From the calories, to the protein, to whether it’s paleo, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, LYFE gives it to you straight, which is one of the reasons why I love LYFE AND have decided to become a brand ambassador.

Summer House Santa Monica

With all of this rain, cold weather, and anti-summer days here in Chicago, it’s easy to imagine yourself somewhere else. Since I just returned from a trip to California myself, I’ve been craving some sort of sun and summer-like temperatures even more. However, the good news is that no matter what kind of weather Chicago is “graced” with during the year (or even if funds are to tight to head to the Golden State), Summer House Santa Monica is opened all year round to offer us locals a dreamy West Coast oasis.
