Before anyone comments or says how unwise I was for going, yes, I’m aware of the “Zika” risk for traveling to Mexico or any tropical warm climate place while prego.
It’s been over a month since our minimoon, but this weekend was first span of time I’ve had to do something other than work! Woof, what the HUBBY and I would do to live in San Diego right now (sigh). Although I wish we can just up and move there tomorrow, reality reminds me of our current lease + my dream job here in Chicago. However, until we figure out how to seamlessly become SD residents, we will continue to visit and keep tabs on all of the great places to dine-to keep us looking forward.
Besides the constant 73 degrees and sunny days, SD continues to grow as an off-the-radar melting pot of cuisine. Sure Mexican cuisine is a staple of the west coast, but we found that vegan/veggie centric locations are more and more prevalent each time we head west. Although I love veggies and eating less meat these days, I was floored to find that my very carnivorous husband LOVED the veggie/ vegan dishes we tasted. No matter what food we ate or the adventures we did in SD, everything just seems sunny and magical. Hell, if we had good weather and I was tan all year round, I’d be a much happier person myself.
If there’s one thing I truly love, it’s that feeling my body gets after it’s been rebooted. Whether that’s from a long vacation, an awesome sweat from a hot yoga class, or a normal food cleanse, it’s incredibly necessary to routinely restart your system. Knowing that I’m not really a fan of juice cleanses because they give my heartburn and leave me HANGRY (but love blend cleanses from City Press Cafe), I try to steer away from the typical “cleanse.” But one day during my IG creep sessions, I came across a concept that caught my eye: A soup cleanse from Skinny Souping.
Being less than ONE week out from the wedding (holy sh!t), things as you can imagine, are stressful! Between last minute traveling for work, coordinating the schedule, fitting into my dress, working on food stuff, AND spending time with the pre-hubs, it’s easy to let my sanity fall thru the cracks. However, in the midst of chaos, there are a few things I feel are total necessities to being a last minute MISS:
With my shredding for the wedding strategy in full fledge, I’ve been obviously trying to eat lighter and healthier meals, although it has been EXTREMELY hard. While I love my meats and super fattening foods like any other human being, there have been a lot of times while on date night where I just CRAVE some veggie dishes (See my last few IG posts regarding my current brussels sprout obsession). Although a lot of restaurants typically have vegetarian items, most of those involve some sort of a salad or just a collection of oily vegetables, nothing along the lines of being healthy and filling. However, after a bunch of research and a lot of eating, I found five locations that I deem as my top veggie spots around the city:
