If you had asked me five years ago what probiotics were, I would have had ZERO idea. The truth is, I didn’t start to really turn my health around until 2016 when I got my first food sensitivity results and shortly afterward, had a miscarriage. I thought eating healthy and lean foods would be okay even though they weren’t organic. Plus, who needed vitamins when I was at a healthy weight and eating “clean?” WRONG
Now that I’m 1.5 months into going back on AIP/elimination for Liam, his skin is 99% improved and his stomach issues are slowly getting better. For all of the doctors we’ve seen and told us to switch to formula or to accept his issues as normal, eff you. Changing your diet and lifestyle has a huge impact on your overall well being.
Before my pregnancy, I followed a Paleo / AIP lifestyle to offset my 40 + foods I’m sensitive to. However, when I was pregnant, the frequent heartburn I had, sensitive stomach I dealt with all magically went away for those 10 months. Eating and going out for dinner was exciting again. Mostly because I could eat anything I wanted. That streak continued until about three weeks ago, right after my son’s two month vaccines.
To Be Honest, I’ve never been excited of the idea breastfeeding. I know many women are all gung ho about it and are all like “free the nip,” but I always thought the concept was super weird. I get it, our boobs were made to feed children, but that doesn’t mean I have to feel comfortable talking about the process, whipping out my boob in public, or photographing it on social media. And I also don’t need to feel obligated to do so. Even though I don’t enjoy talking about it, I’ve found a few tips and tricks throughout my journey that I felt are worth mentioning.
To say that the days fly by with an infant, a child no less, is a complete understatement. Everyday I wake up at 5am, I blink and it’s 6pm. My day starts and ends with feeding, burping, pumping, changing diapers, take the dogs out, calming down baby, repeat. Notice, no real significant breaks. Having a baby that despises day naps severely puts a cramp in my capability to do a lot of extras. Including trying to fit in a quick workout and making AIP/Paleo grabbable food.
Although I got that fresh mommy status as of a week ago, the hubs and I realized that we bought a lot of extra stuff that we don’t need/don’t find useful. On the flip side, we found things that were super helpful and practical. We obviously can’t return our opened items, but if I can prevent some of you from making the same mistakes, that’s all that matters.
Don’t lie, we all have dry bumps on our skin from either weather, diet, or genetics. They’re definitely not sexy and more of a pain in then ass than anything. But it seems like no matter how much you lotion, those damn bumps remain.
