Remedies and Preventatives for Stretch Marks

Knock on wood, I haven’t gotten any new stretch marks during my first or second trimester (other than the ones that already existed on my thighs and hips). Granted, I still have a few months left, so anything is possible regardless of my current skin regimen.

A common time when women get stretch marks is obviously during pregnancy, but if you were once heavy in your past (like myself) or just had bodily changed as you’ve aged, stretch marks can happen when you least expect it. They’re definitely not the sexiest thing to wear on your skin, especially when you’re not tan. Since I’ve been actively trying to avoid increasing the number of stretchies I have, I researched a brand that I trust and who supports my beliefs in only using clean – natural ingredients.

Earth Mama Organics (formerly known a state Earth Mama Angel) believes in the natural process of birth, and the healing power of nature. It’s mission is to provide safe, herbal alternatives for pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women, and babies of all ages, and to help educate people about traditional plant medicine and safe personal care. EMO formulates effective natural and organic products, combining generations of women’s wisdom and traditional plant medicine with the safety and assurances of contemporary evidence-based research. Every product is made with only natural and organic, worry-free ingredients. As a huge believer in not putting crap in or on your body, I knew Earth Mama Organics was the perfect brand for me to use during this pregnancy.

Although I still havent officially “popped” yet, I’ve been proactively using Earth Mama Organics Belly Oil and Belly Butter twice a day since 16w.

Belly Oil

Containing NO petroleum, mineral oil, parabens or artificial fragrance, the Belly Oil helps nourish and encourage skin’s natural elasticity. Nourishing organic calendula, organic jojoba oil, organic borage oil and orange blossom pure essential oil combine to help ease the appearance of emerging stretch marks. As a plus, the natural, delicate scent won’t aggravate occasional morning sickness. It’s moisturizing for after shower or bath, and you can totally use it if/when you’re not pregnant!

Belly Butter

Used right after my Belly oil dries, I lather on the Belly Butter to my belly, thighs, hips, and even boobs (I’ve read that many women get tiger stripes from their knockers grow). Belly Butter is a luxurious, moisturizing pregnancy lotion that contains organic herbs and oils traditionally used to help ease the appearance of emerging stretch marks. Like the Belly oil, the butter also doesn’t contain any nasty additives.

Even after Baby W arrives, I still plan on using both the oil and butter. Maybe one day all of my stretch marks will fade….we’ll see!

*I have partnered with Earth Mama Organics and may be compensated to help raise awareness of its natural products for all Mamas, Mamas to be, and gals who have the dreaded stretch marks.
