Although it may come as a shock to some, Bang Bang has been the original gangster in Logan Square, way before it started to become cool. Its people, its vibes, and its fork licking food have been superseding expectations since day one.
Before my food adventures had started to occur full force, I used to be an extreme health nut and followed a Paleo lifestyle (minus the crossfit). Now that I am constantly eating out and becoming less strict, my “new” diet sometimes feels overwhelming. While I try to maintain a healthy balance of eating better on my “nights off” of my foodie life, it’s definitely hard to prepare and store a nutritious, “clean” meal after a long day of work. However, I recently came across a local nutritious food service called “Kitchfix” that has been the answer to my prayers.
With all of this rain, cold weather, and anti-summer days here in Chicago, it’s easy to imagine yourself somewhere else. Since I just returned from a trip to California myself, I’ve been craving some sort of sun and summer-like temperatures even more. However, the good news is that no matter what kind of weather Chicago is “graced” with during the year (or even if funds are to tight to head to the Golden State), Summer House Santa Monica is opened all year round to offer us locals a dreamy West Coast oasis.
Growing up within the financial world, two things I’ve learned quickly are that: 1. “time is of the essence” and 2. a quick and good breakfast in the morning is essential, especially if you are at your job more than 8h a day, like I am. Whether than means making your own breakfast at home or grabbing something in transit, either way – one needs a satisfying meal to make it through the morning (even more so if you’re hungover).
Because food and staying healthy are big parts of my life, learning how to balance my lifestyle over the years has been an everyday struggle. One question that I always ask my friends, fellow foodies, really anyone I meet is, “how do you balance it all and not get out of control?”
